Tested 2026: How to Get Gum Out of Juicer Safely Now
Immediate Action (First 5 Minutes)
Unplug the machine immediately. I mean right now. If you hear that awful grinding noise, hit the kill switch. Gum wraps around spinning blades and augers fast. It will burn out your motor in under 60 seconds. I've seen a $150 Hamilton Beach juicer die because someone tried to "power through" a sticky wad of Hubba Bubba. Don't do it.
Grab a dull butter knife. Scoop out the bulk of the gum from the feed chute. Toss the chunks in the trash. Do not wash it down the sink. You'll just clog your P-trap and create a much bigger plumbing nightmare. If the gum is already tangled in the spinning basket, leave it alone for a moment. Trying to pull warm, sticky gum out of a micro-mesh screen will only push it deeper into the holes.
What You'll Need (Tools & Products)
I keep a specific kit under my sink for appliance disasters. You don't need expensive chemicals. Most of this stuff costs under $20 total. Here is exactly what I use when tackling sticky polymer messes in the kitchen.
